PerFORM[D]ance House is the name of the Florida International University entry to the 2011 Solar Decathlon. An interdisciplinary team of over 30 graduate and undergraduate students in 3 colleges and 9 departments has designed a house that literally dances! Powered entirely by the sun, the house performs in real time by sensing and responding to the external conditions of its environment and the internal conditions of its use. PerFORM[D]ance is a truly sustainable Florida house. Its architecture, its landscape strategy, its interior building materials and its energy, environmental, and interactive automation systems are designed specifically to allow the house to adapt to our hot, humid, and sometimes stormy subtropical climate. Enjoy as we walk you through our house!
