Through its design, performance and materials, the FIU perFORM[D]ance House minimizes its impact on the environment and educates the public about sustainable design practices in tropical climates. Ideas of economy, ecology, and society are embedded in the design of the house. Affordability is not only defined by the initial construction cost of the house but also by a series of elements starting with its thoughtful and responsible design, ecologically friendly materials, efficient construction methods and future maintenance costs.
